Colette DiPierro, a 28-year-old physician’s assistant from Staten Island recently called off her wedding in September. She gave her fiance back everything, everything except her $17,500 diamond engagement ring. As she’s being stubborn about giving back the ring, her former fiance, Christopher Reinhold, 25, is taking her to court.

Reinhold filed a lawsuit against DiPierro, claiming that he deserves the cost of the engagement ring plus damages back since the two never got married. According to the law, an engagement ring is considered a binding contract wherein if the terms are not fulfilled, in this case marriage, the item must be returned. DiPierro is fighting back, claiming the ring was given to her on her birthday, and was therefore a gift.

While Reinhold has a very cogent argument with the law on his side, DiPierro believes it is what she is owed for Reinhold skipping out on paying the rent and bills when the couple lived together. She claims, “If I get what’s owed to me, then I’d give the ring back because it doesn’t mean anything to me.” The judge has a tough decision to make!

Quarterback Tim Tebow can be counted on to make it memorable! The former Heisman Trophy winner recently helped make a dream moment come true.

Tebow was at an autograph signing event when he helped Sarah Springer and Ian Lis get engaged. At the event in Palm Beach, FL, the couple made their way through to get their autographs and photo op. When it was their turn, Tebow brought out The Ring Box with a note, “I think Ian has a question.” Lis proposed right there to Springer, whom he’d been with for nine years. He did it right, too – on bended knee. Tebow had held on to the ring for almost an hour while waiting for the couple to make their way through the line.

The couple hit the press junket on Wednesday morning to tell all. Lis said that Tebow was happy to help, and Lis knew that after all the years they had been together, he needed to do something really special for the proposal. Tebow did ask for an invitation to the wedding. The least they can do, in this author’s opinion! Of her reaction, Springer said, “It was shock. I never felt anything like it, it was amazing!”

Tebow may have had a soft spot for them, though. All three are University of Florida alumni.

Kim Kardashian of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush have broken up… Again. A couple of years together, with a split in 2009, and it’s over. Maybe. A source told E! News that they were breaking up, but that they didn’t want it publicized. They took a little trip together to see if they could work it out, and apparently the answer is no.

The last go ‘round ended because they never saw each other between her filming schedule, his football schedule, and being based in two cities. This time, the rumor is he can’t take how public her life is. According to E!, they have agreed not to discuss the split in public… So we might not get confirmation! In fact, last Saturday when the paparazzi asked Reggie about Kim, the answer was, “No more questions.” Well! I guess that answers that.

Unfortunately, Kim and Reggie never got around to officially getting engaged. I would LOVE to see what kind of engagement ring Ms. Kardashian would pick out! 8 carats anyone? But what I really want to know? Why in the world be so hush hush? Who cares? They already split up once, they’re not married, they don’t have kids, and they’re not engaged. Alas, there isn’t even any bling to discuss!

Jennifer Love Hewitt of Party of Five and Ghost Whisperer fame has written a book titled The Day I Shot Cupid. Among the various tidbits of her love life, one thing’s for sure – She is, indeed, in love with love.

She loves love! From her book, “This is embarrassing and personal, but once a month, since I was twelve years old, I would go to my favorite jewelry store and try on my dream ring.” Jennifer Love Hewitt is 31 years old now. That means if this part of the book is accurate, she has made about 225 trips to various jewelry stores to try on engagement rings.

She was engaged to actor Ross McCall whom she had met on the set of Ghost Whisperer. Hewitt just broke it off with Jamie Kennedy and in the past has been linked to John Mayer, and Brad Ludden. The engagement ring Jennifer was toting with McCall was an antique family heirloom from his family. She was terrified of losing the 100 year old bauble and kept it pinned inside her costume on the set. Alas, it was not meant to be. McCall and Hewitt broke up in 2009. Sounds like she’s still looking for that perfect ring!

After making the immense gesture of proposing, saying yes, having the wedding, and settling down into married life, the last thing you think will happen is the ring being lost four years later. But this is exactly what happened to couple Brian Candee and his wife, Bree, last weekend.

Brian managed to get his hands on much coveted SNL tickets for last weekend’s show featuring one of their favorite bands, Pearl Jam. The tickets were a birthday gift to Bree. Afterward, the couple went to eat at Nobu 57 when Bree was startled by something she saw. Looking down at her finger, there was a glaring absence. Instead of her shiny 4-carat diamond, there was just a setting staring right back.

Panicked, Bree yelled to her husband and the couple enlisted all the waiters, bartenders, and even the Maitre D to help look for the diamond. After 30 minutes, it seemed hopeless, at which point Bree begged her husband to call SNL. In a random plea of assistance, Brian contacted staging operations director, Tom Popple, to see if he could help.

“This is going to sound very strange, but if you find something…my wife lost her diamond ring,” Candee said to Popple. Popple happened to notice a shiny rock when he was cleaning up after the show and declared to Brian that he had it in his possession. “Little did I know it would be a 4-carat diamond…I was happy for them,” added Popple.

Ecstatic, Brian returned the ring to his beloved wife’s finger, which was still shaking from nerves over the whole situation. Basking in their good luck, the Candees also recognized a renewed trust in their fellow New Yorkers. In a city that big, it’s amazing to find someone so kind, what luck!

The third movie in the Twilight saga is hitting the trailer rounds, and it’s a doozy.

Tish Monaghan has returned as costume designer for the film. When asked if that was what it looked like, Tish confirmed, “This is an engagement ring on Bella’s finger! This is something that was made for her by the props department.”

Other details aren’t confirmed, however the ring looks very similar to the domed oval ring that Stephenie Meyer, Twilight author, authorized after Eclipse first was published. You can buy it yourself at Infinite Jewelry! The ring was designed by Shelli Ashton, the founder of Infinite Jewelry Co.

Ashton, from St. George, Utah, was tired of just wearing her “Smitten, Not Bitten” t-shirt to display her fandom of the series. She went ahead and contacted Meyer to suggest the ring, and a sterling silver charm bracelet as well! Needless to say, she was surprised when Meyer answered that email, and then sent sketches of what she envisioned.

On July 18, 2008, the day Bella and Edward got engaged, 600 copies of the ring were released in the online store. 13 CZ stones are bonded with 14k gold in the center. There are three styles to choose from: Fashion (sterling silver band), Fine (white or yellow gold), and Genuine (true diamonds with a yellow or white gold band.)

Jake Pavelka, the latest Bachelor, proposed to Vienna Girardi, the final rose winner, on The Bachelor Monday.

The setting was the beautiful island of St. Lucia. The proposal: “I love you with everything I am,” on bended knee. Did Girardi accept? You bet. Girardi is 23 years old and a former Hooters waitress. She wore a one-shouldered teal gown by Carmen Marc Valvo. Pavelka is a 32 year old airline pilot from Texas. He wore a suit by Hugo Boss.

The immediate question – of course – what does the ring look like? Pavelka proposed with an almost 3 carat Neil Lane princess cut platinum and diamond hand crafted engagement ring. Value? $50,000! Neil Lane is the jeweler to the stars, and known for his supplying bling to the likes of Charlize Theron and Madonna. Said Lane, “It was exciting going through the process with Jake choosing the right ring. At the end he got the ring and he got the girl that he wanted. I wish them all the best.”
With a center diamond of 2.02 carats, accented by 70 diamonds, its total weight comes to 2.72 carats, according to the Platium Guild.

Chelsea Clinton was walking around backstage at the “Women in the World: Stories and Solutions” conference that took place over the weekend. Clinton walked around and showed many of the women her diamond engagement ring from fiancé Marc Mezvinsky.

Among the guests was host, Tina Brown, designer Diane Von Furstenberg, and Furstenberg’s media tycoon husband, Barry Diller. They all kept talking about how gorgeous the ring was.

Unfortunately there are no photos released of the actual ring. Chelsea is and always has been a very private person. Although she announced the engagement back in November, she hasn’t been photographed wearing it and she hasn’t spilled a detail about their wedding plans either.

Even Clinton’s mother-in-law to be, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky declined to comment on the wedding. She was also in attendance at the conference and everyone kept asking her where the wedding would take place and she would politely respond, “I can’t say.”

Heidi Range, the longest serving member of the Brit girl band The Sugababes, is engaged. Range couldn’t help but flaunt her beautiful diamond engagement ring as the Sugababes performed for Graham Norton over the weekend. The newly-engaged singer was singing live on BBC One’s Your Country Needs You!, the BBC’s competition to search for the 2010 British representative at the Eurovision song contest.

Range showed off her diamond at the show, given to her by gorgeous TV presenter Dave Berry on New Year’s Eve while the couple holidayed in India. Range is ecstatic about her upcoming nuptials. “I can’t wait to marry Dave, he’s gorgeous, I’m so excited,” Heidi recently exclaimed. She went on to say, “I know it’s sickly, but I love calling him my fiancé.”

While Heidi admits to being overwhelmed at her proposal, she knew it was right and couldn’t wait to say yes. As Heidi flashed her bling at the show, her band mates clapped excitedly for their friend. Even host Graham Norton couldn’t help but gush over the ring!

Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson couldn’t hold back her diamond engagement ring bling as she made her way through LAX earlier this week. Reporters were on hand to capture the actress going through security and before long she was holding up her hand at every moment. And with a beautiful 5-carat engagement ring, designed by jeweler to the stars Neil Lane, who wouldn’t show it off?

The academy award winner has been engaged to reality star David Otunga since 2008. They only began dating a year before he popped the question, but felt it was just right from the start. The couple forewent the usual formality of marriage first, then baby, as their first son, David Jr. was born last August.

The couple have been quiet about their wedding plans thus far, but they have confirmed a few details. A date has been selected, Hudson has chosen a dress, and the pair plan on having Neil Lane design their wedding bands as well. As for whether or not Jennifer will sing at the reception, it’s unknown. The Harvard educated Otunga mentioned “it would be wonderful to have Jennifer sing – I’d love that.” She’s come a long way since being cast-off from American Idol, and she’s got the bling to prove it!
