While this has been the summer of love for many couples with engagements and weddings all over the place, others see it as the summer of heartbreak. Most recent inductees to the heartbreak club include Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson, who have officially confirmed their engagement is off.

Speculation swirled for months about whether the couple would reunite after a month-long separation to decide what they wanted. A representative for Bilson told People magazine, “Yes, the engagement is off.” The breakup comes only 16 months after the couple became engaged.

Rachel was recently spotted around town sans wedding ring. When asked about the mysterious disappearance of the jewelry, she told reporters, “No, no plans. No nothing.” It’s sad to see such a sweet couple go their separate ways.
